Our project
A fully-integrated mining and refining operation enabling the end-to-end production of lithium hydroxide – a product critical to supporting decarbonisation on a global scale.
Strategically positioned for global markets, our flagship project comprises of the Mount Holland mine and concentrator, and the Kwinana refinery. Poised to produce approximately 50,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide annually, a capacity which translates to powering approximately 1 million electric vehicles, it marks a significant step towards a cleaner transportation landscape.
The Mount Holland project represents our comprehensive strategy for sustainable lithium production. By establishing an end-to-end value chain within Western Australia, we exercise complete control over the production process, ensuring quality, efficiency, and environmental responsibility at every stage.
Our battery-quality lithium hydroxide will have the capacity to store electricity from renewable energy sources, meeting a variety of needs - from household energy to electric vehicles and beyond.
Mine and concentrator
Targeting 75% spodumene concentrate recovery and an expected output of more than 380,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate each year.
The Mount Holland mining and concentrator operations are located around 500 km east of Perth and 105 km south of Southern Cross in Western Australia. It is located on a brownfield area that was previously the Bounty Gold Operation and left largely unrehabilitated.
Our operations have great long-term potential, with a significant expected mine life of over 50 years at the proposed production rate. Our focus is on producing the highest quality product to support improved environmental outcomes, while maintaining care for our natural environment.
We are actively exploring growth opportunities and have completed a feasibility study to evaluate the doubling of production capacity of the mine and concentrator. This expansion initiative aligns with forecasted market demand and underscores our commitment to driving progress and innovation in the lithium industry in Western Australia and globally.
Refinery
A world-class refinery expected to produce more than 50,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium hydroxide in Western Australia, for the global development of lithium batteries.
Our refinery is located in Kwinana, around 35km south of Perth city. Our goal is to get the most out of the raw materials present in our deposits. To do this, we are defining and configuring the most effective and efficient processes to produce lithium for battery manufacturing, and ensuring we seek opportunities to use our by-products, wherever possible.
Our refinery operations are expected to recover 75% of the lithium contained in the spodumene concentrate. This high rate of recovery means we will be able to produce approximately 50,000 tonnes of battery-quality lithium hydroxide, per year.
This amount of lithium hydroxide will enable approximately one million electric vehicles every year to go on the road, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and helping support a greener future.
The completion and commissioning of the Kwinana refinery in mid-2025 will mark the start of our lithium hydroxide production. As we embark on this exciting journey, we will continue to research and develop new technologies to support innovative ways of working.
